The Ruffed Grouse Society of Canada (RGSC) is a volunteer-led conservation organization dedicated to improving forest health and wildlife habitat for ruffed grouse, American woodcock, and other forest species. Through science-based habitat work, partnerships, and advocacy, we support conservation and Canada’s upland hunting heritage while bringing together a community of like-minded Canadians.
We are seeking a Volunteer Board Member – Fundraising & Partnerships to help expand RGSC’s impact, resources, and relationships.
About the Role
As a member of the Board of Directors, you will lead RGSC’s fundraising and partnership efforts, helping secure the financial resources and strategic alliances needed to advance our mission. You’ll work closely with board members, chapters, volunteers, and external partners—including individuals, foundations, corporations, NGOs, and government agencies—to support healthy forests and sustainable wildlife populations.
This is an opportunity to help shape the long-term sustainability of a national conservation organization—and have fun doing it.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a fundraising strategy with the Board
Identify and cultivate donors, sponsors, and funding partners
Support fundraising events and campaigns with chapters and members
Research and pursue grant opportunities (foundation, corporate, government)
Build partnerships and strategic alliances to share resources and support
Communicate fundraising and partnership successes to members
Use data and insights to improve engagement and effectiveness
Ideal Candidate
You may be a strong fit if you:
Seek leadership experience in a non-profit or volunteer organization
Are passionate about forest conservation, upland birds, and Canada’s natural heritage
Bring experience or interest in fundraising, partnerships, or resource development
Are a strong communicator who is collaborative, organized, and self-motivated
Prior board experience is an asset but not required.
